MSc Student at the University of Guelph
Curriculum Development and the Skills Gap in Higher Education
I am a first year MSc student at the University of Guelph, supervised by Dr. Shoshanah Jacobs in the department of Integrative Biology. My research is very interdisciplinary, and focuses on the skills gap between higher education and the job market, and how changes to curriculum can be used to address that.
I am investigating how individual faculty develop and update their course curricula; and to see if changes to University curriculum, particularly non-disciplinary courses, can help to teach the transferable skills that graduates need to be successful in any career.
Are you a university instructor in Canada? I am currently running a survey on how instructors design and change their courses, and I’d love to hear from you!
Take the survey in English or French, or find out more.
